A Black Salamander Studios server project
Tales from Nirn: Silt Strider
Silt Strider is a persistent, roleplay-focused multiplayer Morrowind server. Shared land, shared ash storms, and the world carries on while you're offline. Play together or alone with friends or strangers and create your character's story.
- 117 Required mods
- 229 Optional overhaul
- 0.8.1 TES3MP build
- OpenMW Engine
What makes it different
Most multiplayer Morrowind is vanilla Morrowind with other people in it. This is not that.
-
NPCs that hold a conversation
The people of Vvardenfell talk for themselves rather than reading from a list. They remember who they have met, they know their own kin, and they bring up their own problems without being prompted.
-
Towns that change hands
Every settlement has a holder, and how firmly they hold it is tracked. Influence, pressure and crisis all move. Settle the right problem for the right people and the map answers.
-
Roads made by walking
The road network is not authored in a file. It is recorded by players walking the routes, and new roads join existing ones where they meet.
-
Consequence that follows you
Witnesses report what they saw. Kill someone with family and the family finds out. Bounties, grudges and hunts all carry across sessions.
-
A pack worth the download
117 required mods, with a further 229 in an optional overhaul tier for anyone whose machine can take it. The launcher handles all of it. No Wabbajack required.
-
Persistent, not reset
Characters, world state and territory carry over between sessions. The server is not wiped between play nights.

Where the project is
Silt Strider is live and playable, and it is also still being built. The living world layer in particular is under active testing, which means you will occasionally meet an NPC who contradicts themselves or a system that does not behave. We would rather run it in the open and fix it with players in the world than polish it in private.
If you want the stable experience, the server plays perfectly well as straightforward multiplayer Morrowind with a very large mod pack. If you want to poke at the strange parts, the Discord is where that conversation happens.
